Experience by Ravinder Bhamber

This is a miraculous experience of winning my dad’s court case which would have been impossible without Baba’s blessings.
My dad got a stroke in August 2011. Six months before this in February 2011 the hospital called us, mum had answered the phone then. The hospital emphasised that dad needed to undergo a procedure in August. I was not happy about this and questioned if the procedure could happen in September instead as we had a festival coming up in August and it would mean dad would not be able to eat anything. We were told by the hospital that the procedure needed to be done in August itself. Deep down I wasn’t happy. Just a day before the procedure, hospital staff came home to administer dad the necessary medication. Due to error on GP’s part dad was given the wrong dose of injection at 5.30 pm that evening which was a lesser dose as compared to the one he should have received being on Warfarin. Dad was not supposed to take any tablets having had the injection.
I took him for the procedure the next day. My heart did not agree to take him to the hospital. My brother could not join me due to some commitments. At the hospital, my dad was taken in for the procedure, I was asked to wait for him with expected 45 min wait period. I noticed that the staff were not organised, they did not explain the situation to my dad appropriately considering his needs of having been spoken to slowly and clearly. His blood pressure was not taken. There was no translator available and I was not informed or considered for translation to him. 1.5 hours passed and dad was still not out. After a while I was told he was ready to go home. He was left inside and when I went up to him it was 4 pm and he had not eaten anything by then.
I was not happy at all as the nurses rushed us and said dad could go home for recovery and be back on his medication. No procedure was mentioned about dad taking Warfarin. After getting home I told my brother that we need to get Warfarin levels checked for dad. We went back to the hospital and were told it was not needed. Upon insisting the levels were checked and was found to be low. The very next day dad had stroke, dad was in hospital three months thereafter, lost his speech and became house bound. Our life changed in the 6 years.
One day a visitor from Whitechapel Hospital came home and advised that the GP, hospital and Pharmacy had wronged us and that they should be taken to the court. After much thinking, I decided to fight the case. It was a long battle. After the first 6 months, the hospital did not co-operate saying they lost the notes. Thereafter the global pandemic hit and things came to a standstill for the next two years. Three lawyers left the case and then it was given to the solicitor. But every time I went to Shirdi the case moved two steps ahead. The stroke panel came back with a positive reply and moved the case forward. Before going to Shirdi in December 2021, I was thinking of closing the case, it was then that miraculously the reports came in our favour. Eight months thereafter again nothing moved as hospital kept asking for more time. Just few weeks ago on 14th March solicitor got back confirming the hospital accepted they were at fault and that we had won the case. We are yet to hear of the settlement which would hopefully be after Easter.
Winning the court case after 4 years is next to unachievable. This has happened purely due to Baba’s blessings. Only because of him I was able to stand up and fight for my dad’s rights. I can feel Baba’s blessings upon me and my family. Thank you, Baba, for being always there.
